Hutu rebels refuse to join peace

The majority of people in Burundi are ethnic Hutus. The country's president is Hutu, while the army is dominated by Tutsis.

Currently, a blogger that goes by the name Tacitus is laying a claim that Christianity and its failings in Rwanda are the cause for conversion to Isalm in Rwanda.

This theory has been tried before.

During the genocide, Muslims were among the few Rwandans who protected both neighbors and strangers. Elsewhere, many Hutus hunted down or betrayed their Tutsi neighbors and strangers suspected of belonging to the minority.

But the militiamen and soldiers didn't dare go after Tutsis in Muslim neighborhoods like Biryogo, said Yvette Sarambuye, a 29-year-old convert.

"If a Hutu Muslim tried to kill someone hidden in our neighborhoods, he would first be asked to take the holy Quran and tear it apart to renounce his faith," said Sarambuye, a Tutsi widowed mother of three who survived the slaughter by hiding with Muslims. "No Muslim dared to violate the holy book, and that saved a lot of us."

For many Hutu extremists, Muslims were regarded as a group apart, not to be targeted in the genocide.
(emphasis added)

Tacitus is incorrect, it was sympathizers and Islamic extremists who went after Catholics and priests. If one were to check the religion of those killed, one would find most were Christians.

Nine Nuns Killed In Rwanda

Croatian Catholic priest murdered in Rwanda

KIGALI, Feb 1 (Reuters) - To Croatian Roman Catholic priest, Father Vjeko Curic, aged about 40, was shot dead in the centre of Kigali by an unknown gunman on Saturday night, police reported.

To Franciscan, he had worked in Rwanda for the past 17 years, and was instrumental in sheltering and saving the lives of many Tutsis during the 1994 genocide in which an estimated 800,000 Rwandans, mainly Tutsis, died, church sources said.

The sources said on Sunday that Father Curic had feared for his life since 1994, and last year survived an attack on his home in the remote Kivumu parish in Gitarama province, central Rwanda. They said he had been targeted by Hutu extremists for his work in saving Tutsis from the l994 genocide, and for his subsequent work for genocide survivors.

Police said he was apparently shot by to passenger in his vehicle while driving through the City. The killer had not been identified, and investigations to were continuing, they said.

Last year to Canadian priest, Belgian nun and three Congolese nuns to were murdered in northwest Rwanda. Armed Hutu militia, including remnants of the army of the Hutu government overthrown in 1994, have been carrying out attacks in northern Rwanda in recent months, targeting Tutsis and allied Hutus.

The conflict is to legacy of centuries of division between the majority Hutu and the minority Tutsi who ruled Rwanda until the monarchy was overthrown in 1959. Hundreds of thousands of exile Tutsis fled into after the monarchy was overthrown, but many returned after to Tutsi-led group, which invaded from neighbouring Uganda in 1990, took power in 1994.

Hell's angels

Scorned as 'Devil worshippers', Iraq's Yezidi tribe have survived centuries of abuse. But could the overthrow of Saddam Hussein provide their greatest challenge yet? Justin Huggler reports

Fox, but not CNN, was at Bush's Thanksgiving surprise

The 13 pool correspondents summoned for the trip included Jim Angle of Fox News, Terence Hunt of the Associated Press, Mike Allen of The Washington Post, Richard Keil of Bloomberg News, a Reuters reporter and photographers from Time, Newsweek and three wire services, the Post reported.

Blacks Balk at Gay Marriage-Civil Rights Links

This puts a damper on Dean and his white angry guy brigade.

'Don't compare us to gay rights' movement'

"Homosexuality is a chosen lifestyle," he said. "I could not choose the colour of my skin. For me to ride down the street and get profiled just because of my skin colour is something a homosexual will never go through."

Today I just found out my friend's son-in-law is protecting oil fields in Mosul. He spent two days in a hospital in Baghdad. His Humvee was hit by an RPG.

Searching stories and I will get more information on what happened.

Much to do about Stephen Hayes.

The Czech counterintelligence service reported that the Sept. 11 hijacker [Mohamed] Atta met with the former Iraqi intelligence chief in Prague, [Ahmed Khalil Ibrahim Samir] al Ani, on several occasions. During one of these meetings, al Ani ordered the IIS finance officer to issue Atta funds from IIS financial holdings in the Prague office.

And the commentary:

CIA can confirm two Atta visits to Prague--in Dec. 1994 and in June 2000; data surrounding the other two--on 26 Oct 1999 and 9 April 2001--is complicated and sometimes contradictory and CIA and FBI cannot confirm Atta met with the IIS. Czech Interior Minister Stanislav Gross continues to stand by his information.

Cause for scratching the head in question? Sure the CIA and FBI denied the meeting. And so did Havel, after the CIA came out with their statements to the contrary of BIS statements.

To those who use Havel as a reliable source to argue against the BIS, read here.

Iraqi Vice President Taha Yasin Ramadan rejected the report.

"It is not true," Agence France-Presse quoted him as saying. "The Czech government is known for its hostile position against Iraq. ... The Czech President [Vaclav Havel] is a friend of Zionists."

The Iraqis had great disdain for Havel. And Havel was promoting the information at the outset.

Then there was this comment that was made by us on this website.

The Senate should start to ask Tenet about the BIS in the Czech Republic and their story on Atta meeting with Ahmed al-Ani.

Some say Havel took a dive for Clinton. It was Tenet who disputed the meeting in the Czech Republic.

http://www.praguepost.com/P02/2002/20605/news1a.php

Indeed the Senate Intelligence Commitee is doing that.

What about the RFEL building?

It was believed that the CIA had offices in the same building. And it was al-Ani who was deported for espinoge.

Question is who spilled the beans on al-Ani? Atta?

It has been stated repeatedly on this website that the BIS was correct and Iraq was involved in the operation of 9-11 and that was the sole reason to seek out Hussein and eliminate him.

WMD's, no and rebuilding Iraq, no. It is retaliation for 9-11.

Ten Commandments Judge Removed From Bench

What was said on this site in July?

Affidavit in Support of the Ten Commandments

This was an affidavit that was used in support of the case that revolved around the displaying of the Ten Commandments.

The historical information contained in the affidavit is worth the read. You will be surprised at how much religious influence there was in the makeup of laws.

The idea that displaying the Ten Commandments violates the separation of church and state, ignores the historical relavance the Commandments played in law, both good and bad.

There is no place in separating a part of our history by taking it away or hiding it from our knowledge. It is a reminder of the good and bad.

The 5th Circuit Court seems to agree.

If this case or another case goes to the U.S. Supreme Court, the ruling as stated by the 5th Circuit will stand. It is unfortunate that politics played out in the ruling handed down by the panel that removed Judge Moore.

The impact of the 5th's ruling will be felt and those that ruled against the diplay will be made to look like fools. Moore will be vindicated.

The Quagmire

US troops clash with 'PKK rebels'

If confirmed, it would be the first known clash between US forces and the PKK.

Not true.

I have heard personal accounts from my friend's son-in-law that the units in Kirkuk come under attack daily and that the Kurd's have threatened U.S. soldiers if the Turks come to help out in Iraq.

There is no doubt that the Kurds where offered a deal where they get a person sitting on the new Iraqi government.

Ineffective Iraqi council angers its US backers

And we are back to square one. The Kurds are now pissed off AGAIN and the PKK are so interwoven with the Kurds there is no way to distiguish them from other Kurds.

Defining the resistance in Iraq - it's not foreign and it's well prepared

• The tools and tactics killing Americans today in Iraq are those of the former regime, not imported from abroad.

• The anti-US resistance in Iraq today is Iraqi in nature, and more broadly based and deeply rooted than acknowledged.

It was wondered what Dean would say to get the black vote after his comments after the confederate flag.

Democratic presidential candidate Howard Dean told a Tallahassee audience today that southerners have to quit basing their votes on "race, guns, God and gays."

But wait.

"I still want to be the candidate for guys with Confederate flags in their pickup trucks," Howard Dean said Friday in a telephone interview from New Hampshire. [Des Moines Register, 11/1/03]

Pure genius..............................................................(sarcasm)

Insert Foot in Mouth

Andrew Sullivan states:

DEAN'S COJONES: Score one for Howard Dean. There's no need for him to apologize for his confederate flag remarks. The fact that he held firm under fire last night struck me as a good sign of his tenacity and refusal to give in to p.c. lynch-mobs. He's absolutely right to say that the Dems need to appeal nationally again - wasn't that Zell Miller's point? But the true test of a serious pol is if he can hold fast when being pummeled for the wrong reasons. Dean won the exchange in my eyes.

U.S. Faces Troop Pressure As Turkey Balks

The Turkish support has been one big sticking point on whether or not the Bush administration has the ability to build a coalition in Iraq.

It doesn't.

The Bush administration underestimated the division between the Kurds and Turkey. As stated before on this web site, my friends son-in-law came under attack by Kurds in Kirkuk.

This was done when the Bush administration was seeking help from Turkey.

There is no doubt that the Kurds where offered a deal where they get a person sitting on the new Iraqi governement.

The deal was most likely done to get the Kurds to allow a Turkish force in Iraq. However, Turkey doesn't like it.

End of story. Unless of course there is a huge pay-out.

John Kerry Picks on Howard Dean.

"Howard Dean is justifying his pandering to the NRA by saying his opposition to an assault weapons ban allows him to pander to lovers of the Confederate flag. It is simply unconscionable for Howard Dean to embrace the most racially divisive symbol in America. I would rather be the candidate of the NAACP than the NRA."

Dean's Flip-Flopping on the Confederate Flag
Dean "declined to say South Carolina should stop flying a Confederate flag, again saying that is a state decision." [Knight Ridder, 2/2/03]

Dean has conceded previously that there are "a very significant number of folks in this state to whom it is a symbol of oppression and slavery." [Washington Post, 2/5/03]

LeBoutillier plays Hussein

Saddam Hussein is alive somewhere in Iraq. And he apparently is helping direct the insurgency against the US liberation – he would call it an ‘occupation’ – of Iraq. Here might be what he is thinking:

Bring democracy to my country? By having American troops create a government here in my homeland? Ha! I am not going to let that happen.

People seem to forget things. Back in 1991 I withdrew from Kuwait but I outlasted the first Satan, the first President Bush! He was thrown out in 1992 – and I remained in power. I then was able to re-take the areas in the north – the bastard Kurds – and the south where those filthy Shiites dared to defy me. Bush was off in Maine playing golf and I was stronger than ever!!!

Clinton was a piece of cake to play with. A total dove who would lob a few cruise missiles into an empty building at night to minimize casualties. He was so easy to deceive! I heard that he was spending more time with various women than with the head of his CIA. I don’t blame him. The CIA is pathetic. Couldn’t find my WMD when I moved it into Syria before the war – and still can’t find it. Can’t find all my cash either. And, thanks be to Allah, that cash is coming in handy these days.

Oh what a blood feud I have with the Bushes. And I am going to win it, too! I outlasted Bush 41, as they call him, and now I have plans to outlast his son, Bush 43. How, you ask? By following the Ho Chi Minh primer, given to me by my pal, Vladimir Putin. Basically this book says that Americans have short attention spans and hate blood and suffering. In Vietnam, Hanoi learned that they could merely ‘outlast’ Washington. And the American media would take care of the rest. Sure enough, by 1968 the media juiced up the Democrats who then threw out their own President.

I think that can happen now all over again. I plan on using these ‘useful idiots’ – as Lenin called them – traipsing all over my land with cameras and satellite dishes to send back to America pictures of dead and suffering American soldiers. Oh, that attack on the copter was our best yet! And we have more planned, too. Plus, Bush has done something I could never have done: he has made that religious fool – Bin Laden – send thousands of his suicidal maniacs in here to help me! Can you believe it? These fanatics want to die! Allah, what a wonderful weapon to have at your disposal.

We have a good little plan going now. Slowly but surely we will escalate attacks on Americans – soldiers and the others, too – while Governor Dean leads the charge to pull out of Iraq. Wonderful! Another George McGovern – only he can win next year because Bush is no Richard Nixon. Nixon’s lies caught him after he was re-elected; Bush’s lies are going to trip him up just in time for him to lose the election.

Yes, I am going to outlast both President Bushes. And then I am going to re-assert control here in my part of Iraq. I have billions stashed to pay for this insurgency and they will never find me down here; they’re looking in the wrong places thanks to the little tidbits of false information we leak to them.

As for my beloved two sons – Allah rescue them – they were stupid fools! I told them the last day we were in Baghdad that we should all split up and keep moving. Stupid fools stayed in the same house for 3 weeks! No wonder they were found! Oh well, I never thought much of Uday anyway. I tried to whack him in 1996. Qusay had potential; he did a wonderful job torturing those Shiites in 1991.

Still, my cause is bigger than a few boys.

We have to outlast Bush 43. And we will – thanks to the gullible media and an American people with no resolve.

Oh, I cannot wait for my revenge on the House of Bush!

Word to the wise, never try to think like a mad man. Just find him and shoot the son-of-a-bitch and be done with him.

Daniel Drezner isn't buying campaign contributions get you contracts. Reynolds also pipes in a few tunes on Drezner's opinion.

Somehow Drezner misses the point that General Electric does get many Defense Contracts.

General Electric Co. (NYSE:GE - News)'s General Electric Engine Services was awarded on Oct. 20 a delivery order amount of $9.33 million as part of a $53.9 million firm-fixed-price contract for conversion of 110 T700-GE-700 and T700-GE-701 Gas Turbine Engines to T700-GE-701C configurations. Work is expected to be completed by Sept. 30, 2008.

General Dynamics Corp. (NYSE:GD - News)'s Electric Boat Corp. is being awarded a $23 million cost-plus-fixed-fee modification to previously awarded contract (N00024- 99-C-2900) for Consolidated Design Agent, Planning Yard, and engineering and technical support for nuclear submarines. Work is expected to be completed by February 2004.

Northrop Grumman Corp. (NYSE:NOC - News) is being awarded a $6.3 million contract modification to provide for System Design and Development activities for the Global Hawk Program. This work will be complete July 2004.

Nevermind building Iraq, that is not their forte. It is pretty obvious that Bechtel and Haliburton were awarded contracts in Iraq and gained favoritism from the Pentagon.

To say otherwise and show it through statistical jargon like Drezner does, is pure folly and B.S.
