What about the Christian Palestinians.

Penny and Reynolds, get the hint? They are Palestinians. Not suicide bombers.

At least one individual knows the danger that lies ahead for both Christians and moderate Muslims who are Palestinian. And unlike Reynolds and Damian Penny, the author knows the difference of attitudes among Palestinians and doesn't put them all in one category under a bigoted intent.

Soon after the Israelis killed a top bomb maker for the Hamas, the Hamas threaten that they will avenge the killings.

The duplicitous Danish government. First on anti-immigration policies in Europe which was precipiated by the anti-Muslim rhetoric of Pim Fortyun and now this.

Basically, it amounts to the "not in my back yard but it's ok in yours" mentality.

Update: The J.P. spins the story in a different manner.

Danish Prime Minister Anders Fogh Rasmussen, whose country today takes the rotating presidency of the European Union from Spain, said yesterday he agrees with the US call that Palestinian Authority Chairman Yasser Arafat needs to be replaced.

However. given his statements that "...We must abandon the idea of calling a major international peace conference to find a solution to this conflict....It is not a good idea. we cannot even get the two parties to the negotiating table."

Then he stated that Denmark "...will instead propose, on behalf of the EU, that we begin with series of meetings on specific subjects, like for example the question of Palestinian refugees, the security problems between Israelis and Palestinians, the status of Bait-ul Moqadas."

We shall wait and see if these are his exact words.

And what has the E.U. said on ousting Arafat? They are against it. We think the government of Demark is duplicitous.

New Israeli bombardment against south Lebanon

Denmark embarks on a new era in laws on immigration.

Since Europe is becoming anti-Semitic, this can only be a reflection of the underlining bigotry that European governments hold. Unless of course it is directed only at Muslims.

Go ask guys like Andrew Sullivan about that one.

But hey Andrew was for Pim Fortyun so pay no mind to that, we'll just leave you with Andrew's latest on the subject of Europe and its people's unabashed hatred of Jews.

EUROPEAN ANTI-SEMITISM: Abe Foxman is a bit of a hysteric, but this time he might be onto something. A survey of European attitudes toward Jews found some uncomfortable data:

"...Among the 2,500 people polled in late May and early June as part of our survey, 45 percent admitted to their perception that Jews are more loyal to Israel than their own country, while 30 percent agreed with the statement that Jews have too much power in the business world. Perhaps most telling, 62 percent said they believe the outbreak of anti-Semitic violence in Europe is the result of anti-Israel sentiment, not anti-Jewish feeling. The contrariness of their own attitudes suggests that Europeans are loath to admit that hatred of Jews is making a comeback."

Haven't been to Daddy Warblog's site for some time, but when it was visited, found out he was talking about polls and suicide bombers.

The Daddy does some fast fact checking and writing to bolster his comments:

The piece does, however, indicate one of the problems with the Shrub's grand non-plan for the Middle East:

"...Opinion polls conducted in Palestinian areas show a majority of people favour suicide bombings against Israeli civilians as a tactic to liberate land occupied by Israel."

But recently a group of Palestinian intellectuals took out an advertisement in Palestinian newspapers condemning suicide attacks as counter-productive, but their call has been widely ignored."

What the Daddy did not say is that support (if you can believe the polls in the first place) for suicide bombers is waning. Attribute it to the Israeli incursions or the Moderate Palestinians voicing their concerns, but the fact is, the Daddy misrepresented what is taking place in the Middle East.

As for the numbers of 80 percent, they don't jive with the 30 percent of those polled that do not support either the Hamas or Arafat. And of the 30 percent who support Arafat all would have to support suicide bombers to reach the 60 percent.

Aid to Palestinians Will Not Be Stopped, U.S. Says

Pay no attention to the spin that is coming from the jounalists in their Op-Ed pieces. Pay no attention to Arafat or the Israeli hardliners. The Palestinian expates are donating money and time to the formation of a Palestinian state.

They are pissed that the money they send is going to the P.A. and not the needy and what about "baby bombers". Quoting the article,

This will be their greatest contribution to the new generation who "are the builders of our country's future", he said.

However, he lamented the fact that donations sent to Palestine do not always reach the needy.

The current situation is not an issue for Palestine alone, he pointed out.

"It is not just an Arab or Muslim issue. It is a global issue. The world powers must do their utmost to resolve it and even American President George W. Duh. Reynolds has the light finally come on?

I HOPE THAT THIS STORY IS TRUE:

U.S. intelligence sources in Washington are saying that the job of taking out the suicide bombing infrastructure of the extremist Hamas group will be done by Egyptians.

Under the guise of helping the Palestinian Authority with their reforms so called Egyptian experts will begin to appear in the West Bank and Gaza. Only they'll be intelligence operatives, and soon designated suicide bombers and their support teams will begin to disappear. The United States has extracted a promise from Egypt not to station forces permanently in the Palestinian enclave. "(The Egyptians) are absolutely ferocious" one U.S. intelligence officer says admiringly.

Generalized statements made about a race of people is racist. You would think that the Israelis would learn this after what Hitler did. But they use the tactic Hitler did by using words that are laced with their own seed of hate.

What did one Israeli official say.

"What is obvious is that Palestinians are feeding the hatred of Jews and Israelis to their children at the earliest possible age," said David Baker, an official in the office of Israeli Prime Minister Ariel Sharon.

This is the same tactic that bigots of all races use. A generalization of a race repesented by a small segment of individuals. The same could be said by taking the Kach and their efforts and say Jews are trying to liquidate Palestinians in the settlements. True hell no. The same applies with the Palestinians.

Admittedly, the family was involved with militants and do not represent the majority of Palestinians. But the bigots like David Baker show their hatred and wear it comfortably because that is what dumbass bigots do.

They are the trash of society.

With all of the rhetoric coming from guys like Reynolds, Raimondo, Penny and others about how bad Bush's speech was or how good it was, they all have a short term memory on the past.

Remember, Bush focused much of his attention on the moderate Palestinians? Well the speech is a culmination of efforts of establishing diplomatic ties with moderates in Lebanon, Syria and of course moderate Palestinians. Even Mr. Netanyahu the hardliner recognized that moderate Palestinians wanted peace with Israel.

The guys like Penny who call out generalized bigoted statements against Palestinians should open their books to the same page Netanyahu is on.

Otherwise they will continue to find themselves in the same company with Arafat when he makes his statement that he will "kneecap" anyone who runs against him.

Curious on what the boys at Indy Media thought of Bush's speech?

Damian Penny theorizes:

Two cheers for Bush's speech The President outlined his vision for an 'interim' Palestinian state in a major speech yesterday, and it's much better than I had expected. Bush rightly notes that a Palestinian state, interim or otherwise, is simply not possible or desirable without major reform of the Palestinian Authority. Before a viable, independent Palestinian state can be declared, this attitude has to change. Israelis - and Palestinians, who Bush did not, however, deal with the biggest problem of all: the growing culture of "martyrdom" among the Palestinian people, brought on largely by the steady stream of anti-Israel, anti-Jewish propaganda to which Palestinians are exposed in their schools, in their mosques and on their televisions. All the reform in the world is useless as long as Palestinian children want to blow themselves up and take as many evil Jews with them as they can. certainly are entitled to a better future than what "martyrdom" can bring - deserve better.

What is it with lawyers and their desire to misrepresent the facts with opinions. Where in the hell do they get these facts from? Counselor, your out of line. Put up the proof that : Palestinian children want to blow themselves up and take as many evil Jews with them as they can.

A while back a story was written on how the U.N. has targeted the Catholic Church. Here is proof.

What did the court say?

"If a person is not found on the territory, we find it inadmissible," the court said in its 22-page ruling.

The Vatican had better get some cajones and scream about Father Seromba and the four Rwandans, two who were nuns and sentenced between 12 and 20 years for their role in the 1994 genocide of the country's Tutsi ethnic minority.

And the findings in each case are surrounded by corrupt testimony and evidence.

The headlines read Israel scorns Palestinian elections.

But here is the underlining threat. The possibility that there may be support for a candidate other than Arafat.

"..Thirty-five per cent of Palestinians would vote Mr Arafat, compared to 19 per cent for the imprisoned Fatah leader, Marwan Barghouti, and 13 per cent for Sheikh Ahmed Yassin of Hamas, according to a recent poll by the Palestinian Centre for Policy and Survey Research in Ramallah."

Add it up and you come up with almost a third not supporting any candidates listed. That is why the Israelis are pissed. Arafat is just the red herring.

The Brits maybe pissed about Bush's statements on the leadership in a future Palestine. But here is the meat of the article.

"...Opinion shared by the independent, which said that although it was "hard to envisage a lasting peace so long as Yasser Arafat holds the reins of Palestinian power ... what Bush omitted to say. And is surely as true, is that the cause of peace is unlikely to be furthered while prime minister Ariel Sharon holds power in Israel."

Either Sharon will fall in line or he will be next. Tough times will develop within Israel's own government if Arafat is gone and the settlements are changed.

Proof that Arafat is a hapless leader. "It will be decided by my people and no one else," Arafat said.

His people? Beware of a leader who uses the statement, "my people." They are not his people.

As for the polls that are being taken by Israel, they are skewed at the moment because it puts Arafat against a Hamas leader. The Palestinians are tired of Arafat. And the popularity of the Hamas leader is even less. This shows that the suicide bombings are not popular as what the Israeli officials want the public to believe. Ask the majority of Palestinian parents about suicide bombings and they will say, they don't want their child to follow the path of extremists.

The State challenging the Federal law is where the standing issue really is. At no time is the daughter forced to recite anything and suffer a punishment for not reciting it.

While there is no doubt there is an increase in bias attitudes towards Muslims. This is a piss poor way of going about to correct the bias attitudes.

Justin Raimondo that lovable writer with a duplicitous nature finds himself battling God.

Or may be he has just found religion. But don't go looking for him in the "Amen Corner" unless of course he is talking about China.

That is when his real religion and the duplicity of this writer emerge.

When can you find a writer who likes to attack those who support Israel but cite them when it comes to China. Just read what he writes about the country. You will get the drift.

3) The Religious Angle – Pat Robertson has descried the anti-China lobby gathering force among religious conservatives as "morally irresponsible and politically ignorant. Few things bring people together like a common enemy," he writes. "To some, China has done a masterful job of playing the villain. The China bashers prosper in direct mail and media campaigns, but they do not have the weight of righteousness on their side." [Wall Street Journal, June 30, 1998]

This nails the Sinophobes' lobby for what it is: a cynical attempt to cash in on the gullibility of all too many conservatives, who are sincere in their anti-Communism but know next to nothing about China. Wiliiam McGurn, editor of the Far Eastern Economic Review, and for many years associated with the conservative National Review, said it best. While not arguing that Beijing has established freedom of religion, he writes: "When American critics declare that things are getting worse, it prompts the great unasked question: Compared with what?" The "criticism now leveled by American Christian activists seems less a snapshot of China in the late 1990s than a caricature drawn from the high days of Maoism a generation ago."

Raimondo the wannabe Libertarian (if there is such a thing) will drum up words of the "Amen Corner" when it suits his agenda, then with sharp words stab those same individuals in the back.

There is a dishonesty in his writing at times, the same dishonesty found in the words of those he attacks. Amazingly the Guru Robertson’s words became Raimondo's mantra; Monnnnnnnney.

His own personality has got the best of him again. Here is a passive/aggressive warblogger; attack the one side while reaming silent to other's war crimes. Pay no attention to the antiwar shtick.

There is no denying that Raimondo has been soft on China, soft on Pakistan and soft on Arafat. Did he come out hard on Arafat only giving a house arrest to the Hamas leader. No. But when Arafat agreed with Bush, he lets him have it. His duplicity and agenda shows again.

It was pathetic, really, to see that Chairman Arafat hailed Bush's long-awaited speech as "a serious effort to push the peace process forward" – even after Bush called for his ouster! Oh, the hapless Palestinian leader insisted, but he didn't mean me! The Saudis echoed this empty claim, averring that any endorsement of a Palestinian state – no matter how "provisional," no matter how many conditions are attached to its founding – is better than nothing.

Enough about his duplicity and now about his latest. Words?

Given Raimondo's words, maybe Arafat should be gone. According to him, he is a hapless leader. Agreed, he is, thus the support stated on this site for Bush's speech.

Yesterday Reynolds was lamblasted on this site. And Raimondo is in the sights so it must be stated that thank God that President Bush doesn't listen to guys like Raimondo when it comes to foreign policy in the Middle East. Unfortunately, however he must have have been listening to him on China. But that is a different story for another time.

Now that deserves an Amen and calming hum of monnnnnnney.

The blogosphere is buzzing with what Bush had said in his speech.

Leading the hypocratic oath of bigotry and out right bullshit is the the king of spin: Alah Mohamednoway Reynolds.

Fortunate for us, Reynolds and his crew are not advising the president on foreign matters because we would all be in a world of shit.

Bush did recognize that not all Palestinians are bad to include those that are enlisted in some make-believe Palestinian Airforce that are dropping from the sky as was so childishly hinted at in a lampoon that Reynolds found so intriguing.

What did Bush have to say? Here is an excerpt:

For too long, the citizens of the Middle East have lived in the midst of death and fear. The hatred of a few holds the hopes of many hostage. The forces of extremism and terror are attempting to kill progress and peace by killing the innocent. And this casts a dark shadow over an entire region. For the sake of all humanity, things must change in the Middle East.

It is untenable for Israeli citizens to live in terror. It is untenable for Palestinians to live in squalor and occupation. And the current situation offers no prospect that life will improve. Israeli citizens will continue to be victimized by terrorists, and so Israel will continue to defend herself.

In the situation the Palestinian people will grow more and more miserable. My vision is two states, living side by side in peace and security. There is simply no way to achieve that peace until all parties fight terror. Yet, at this critical moment, if all parties will break with the past and set out on a new path, we can overcome the darkness with the light of hope. Peace requires a new and different Palestinian leadership, so that a Palestinian state can be born.

What does Reynolds key in on? Here is what the brilliant professor said what Bush is meaning in his encryptic message, but before you read it, make sure you have your handy dandy decoder ring.

NOT SO WOBBLY NOW: Bush says become a Western-style democracy and then we'll talk peace. And no more Arafat -- we're tired of that terrorism shit, dudes, and we're not fooled.

This isn't just an Israel / PLO thing, it's a signal to some other people. (Look at the passage following the reference to "people of Muslim countries" in the text).

Reader S.E. Brenner says the BBC was so miffed it dropped the speech suddenly halfway through. "No dancing in the streets of Soho tonight."

posted at 05:44 PM by Glenn Reynolds

Ok so what was said after "people of Muslim countries? Here it is:

I have a hope for the people of Muslim countries. Your commitments to morality, and learning, and tolerance led to great historical achievements. And those values are alive in the Islamic world today. You have a rich culture, and you share the aspirations of men and women in every culture. Prosperity and freedom and dignity are not just American hopes, or Western hopes. They are universal, human hopes. And even in the violence and turmoil of the Middle East, America believes those hopes have the power to transform lives and nations.

This moment is both an opportunity and a test for all parties in the Middle East: an opportunity to lay the foundations for future peace; a test to show who is serious about peace and who is not. The choice here is stark and simple. The Bible says, "I have set before you life and death; therefore, choose life." The time has arrived for everyone in this conflict to choose peace, and hope, and life.

Well you readers out in blogosphere, your either with Bush or your not. And the brain-dead warbloggers are trying to spin some sense that this was a win for their side.

Truth be told that Reynolds and his crew lumped Palestinians into one big group of people with the intent on supporting their demise in not having their own state and recognition of sovereignity. They could never understand the separation between innocent Palestinians and terrorists. Why, could it be their own bigotry? Hmmm. Regardless of their calling now, their actions equate to what one does when one wants a race of people to have no rights.

Bush does understand this. How, here it is:

I can understand the deep anger and despair of the Palestinian people. For decades you've been treated as pawns in the Middle East conflict. Your interests have been held hostage to a comprehensive peace agreement that never seems to come, as your lives get worse year by year. You deserve democracy and the rule of law. You deserve an open society and a thriving economy. You deserve a life of hope for your children. An end to occupation and a peaceful democratic Palestinian state may seem distant, but America and our partners throughout the world stand ready to help, help you make them possible as soon as possible.

This is a win for the Palestinian people. The same sentiment stated on this site towards the Palestinians. Palestinians who are many times terrorized by their own.

Could the bigots distingush this, hell no. Ask any member of the Kach who terrorize their own people. No difference and guess who played along with this group.

Next Reynolds in his brilliance states:

READER TRENT TELENKO notes this part of the speech, aimed at Syria:

"I've said in the past that nations are either with us or against us in the war on terror. To be counted on the side of peace, nations must act. Every leader actually committed to peace will end incitement to violence in official media, and publicly denounce homicide bombings. Every nation actually committed to peace will stop the flow of money, equipment and recruits to terrorist groups seeking the destruction of Israel -- including Hamas, Islamic Jihad, and Hezbollah. Every nation actually committed to peace must block the shipment of Iranian supplies to these groups, and oppose regimes that promote terror, like Iraq. ****And Syria must choose the right side in the war on terror by closing terrorist camps and expelling terrorist organizations.**** "

Yes, Bush is throwing down the gauntlet to a lot of folks in terms that they must surely understand. This presumably explains the sudden increase in cooperation we've seen in the last week or two.

UPDATE: Reader Dick Aubrey analyzes the speech:

When Bush was making his speech in the fall, laying out, among other things, what he expected the Taliban to do, I said to my wife (gleefully), "They can't do it. They're screwed. We win." Which is to say there was no way the Taliban could even pretend to meet the requirements. The really good part is that in that case, and this, the requirements were eminently reasonable, desirable, and beyond quibble.

I love it.

Too bad Reynolds doesn't seem to know shit on the subject. But hey everyone has an opinion.

As was stated on warblogger's watch board:

Here

Here

Here

There is a changing of the guard in Lebanon and Syria is losing its grip. The hardliners are losing to Rafik Hariri and Lahoud is losing ground in his own country. The hardliners in Syria know this and are becoming isolated. But do the nit wits distinguish between hardliners and moderates in Syria, hell no. They can't see it.

But Bush does. How? Here it is:

We must also resolve questions concerning Jerusalem, the plight and future of Palestinian refugees, and a final peace between Israel and Lebanon, and Israel and a Syria that supports peace and fights terror.

And finally here is the truth of all that is happening in the Middle East. Bush nails it:

In the work ahead, we all have responsibilities. The Palestinian people are gifted and capable, and I am confident they can achieve a new birth for their nation. A Palestinian state will never be created by terror -- it will be built through reform. And reform must be more than cosmetic change, or veiled attempt to preserve the status quo. True reform will require entirely new political and economic institutions, based on democracy, market economics and action against terrorism.

As has been stated many times on this site, without a change in Lebanon, there won't be peace. With a changing of the guard, the terrorist in Syria become isolated, and the Palestinians who have lived as refugees will be freed from the poverty that breeds the terrorists that use them for their own hatred.

In the end, if Bush can pull it off, the Palestinians will win. How? Here it is:

Leaders who want to be included in the peace process must show by their deeds an undivided support for peace. And as we move toward a peaceful solution, Arab states will be expected to build closer ties of diplomacy and commerce with Israel, leading to full normalization of relations between Israel and the entire Arab world.

Israel also has a large stake in the success of a democratic Palestine. Permanent occupation threatens Israel's identity and democracy. A stable, peaceful Palestinian state is necessary to achieve the security that Israel longs for. So I challenge Israel to take concrete steps to support the emergence of a viable, credible Palestinian state.

As we make progress towards security, Israel forces need to withdraw fully to positions they held prior to September 28, 2000. And consistent with the recommendations of the Mitchell Committee, Israeli settlement activity in the occupied territories must stop.

The Palestinian economy must be allowed to develop. As violence subsides, freedom of movement should be restored, permitting innocent Palestinians to resume work and normal life. Palestinian legislators and officials, humanitarian and international workers, must be allowed to go about the business of building a better future. And Israel should release frozen Palestinian revenues into honest, accountable hands.

I've asked Secretary Powell to work intensively with Middle Eastern and international leaders to realize the vision of a Palestinian state, focusing them on a comprehensive plan to support Palestinian reform and institution-building.

Ultimately, Israelis and Palestinians must address the core issues that divide them if there is to be a real peace, resolving all claims and ending the conflict between them. This means that the Israeli occupation that began in 1967 will be ended through a settlement negotiated between the parties, based on U.N. Resolutions 242 and 338, with Israeli withdrawal to secure and recognize borders.

That will piss off Sharon and the hardliners on the right who are linked to the Kach.

In the end what this amounts to is as Arafat goes so do the warbloggers, because what is left is their own hatred and the world won't stand for it because hate breeds hate. And their hate would be left to start again.

What nice jugs you have but what happened to your hands.

Why is it that blogers like to show "Ann Coulter's jugs" in some pic that is lousy in graphics and a lousy attempt at getting hits.

Damn it.

Andrew Sullivan take note:

"...SOCIALLY LIBERAL, INTELLECTUALLY CONFUSED [Jonah Goldberg]
Folks, my point below wasn't that it's logically or philsophically impossible to be socially liberal and fiscally conservative. In a sense that's what libertarians are, and they are nothing if not consistent. My point was that most of the people who brag about being socially liberal and fiscally conservative are difference-splitters and people-pleasers with no coherent world view of their own. I am sure there are some brilliant and rational people out there who are, in fact socially liberal and fiscally conservative. But in my experience the people who tout their "indpendent" philosophy as some sort of ingenious synthesis are quite often simply shallow thinkers trying to be non-conformists on the cheap. It's similar to the people who think splitting the Congress and the Presidency between Republicans and Democrats is a check-and-balance tactic the founders would have approved of. It's not, by the way. And -- oh yeah -- I've got many McCain supporters chiefly in mind when I say these things."

Fits Sullivan to a tee. And Goldberg probably doesn't even know it. But then again Goldberg supported McCain.

The Washington Times has now picked up on an article that was posted on this site two days ago.

The Times reported that "Jan Peter Balkenende, the Christian Democrat leader and likely prime minister, said incitement in the mosques was 'no longer acceptable.' He swept the left out of power last month pledging to reverse the state policy of promoting multiculturalism."

However, the taped sermons did not urge Muslims to directly engage in violence. If this is the trend in this part of Europe, then expect to see all web sites that promote or have any speech of this kind to be banned.

You may hate him or like him, but Raimondo is right on in his latest.

Key Figure in Sept. 11 Plot Held in Secret Detention in Syria

This guy was tucked away on purpose. Atta.

The likelihood that al Qaeda rank and file are in refuge camps in Lebanon is high.

Troubling is Lebanese President Emile Lahoud's statements. Added to his statements, the Lebanon police do not enter the Palestinian camps thus the militants hide out there.

Unfortunately, the Palestinians who live in the refuge camps are many times terroized by their own.

The headlines may read U.S. prevented major Israeli attack on Syria but the truth of the matter is Israel can not fight Syria, Lebanon and deal with the terrorists at one time. The bravado displayed by the Israeli officials is tellling of their arrogance on the matters at hand.

David Magen, chairman of the Knesset Foreign Affairs and Defense Committee, said "Only international intervention and somebody up there recovered and saved them from a harsh military blow."

Highly unlikely given the problems the IDF had with a rag tag group of terrorists in Jenin.

As has been stated over and over on this site, Lebanon is key to the peace effort in the region.

According to the article, U.S. diplomats issued a warning to Lebanon and in the wake of Prime Minister Ariel Sharon's meeting with President George Bush, the two men discussed the prospect of an outbreak of violence against Israel.

With the recent elections, it would be against all reason for the U.S. to promote a possible rift in a movement that may bring about a change in Lebanon's government.

We'll say it again, Rafik Hariri is the key to any negotiations in the region.

Lebanon probes cleric assault case

A must read for Andrew Sullivan since he seems to be such a woman's rights advocate.

REPORT HIGHLIGHTS THREATS, BIAS AGAINST MUSLIMS SINCE 9/11

Interviewers from the Center for the Prevention of Hate Violence found Muslim women feel especially vulnerable.

Sure he would, they are Muslims.

More child molestation.

First instinct is to question if a so-called confiscated video is what it is said to be.

The intsructor is wearing a mask. Hmmm.

Andrew missed this one.

Sullivan whines:

"...THE EU AND HIZBULLAH: The French are still unwilling to designate Hizbullah a terrorist organization. At least they got knocked out of the World Cup."

But did he see the E.U. has declared The Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine and the al-Aqsa Martyrs Brigades on the terror blacklist.

No. I wonder why.

Andrew Sullivan is in a caddy mood:

"...THE RELIGIOUS RIGHT AND ISLAMISM: They’re natural allies in many respects - the belief that women should be subservient to men, that homosexuality is an abomination, and so on. And they have every right to co-operate at the U.N. But why the Bush administration should want to ally itself with Islamist states in this fashion is beyond me, except pandering to their extremist wing. How can the First Lady champion women’s rights in Islamist countries, while her husband blesses those in America who find such repression of women something to admire and aspire to?."

What happened to the Amen Corner and Israel? Stay tuned for another group jumping on the Bush express. That will piss the "little ole" miss muffet.

Buchanan plays deep throat via Andrew Sullivan via some nit wit.

Evidently, Woodward and Bernstein had plan on taking the secret to their grave. If Buchanan dies, I guess we will know then. My bet is it was Liddy. Now there is a winner.

Reynold's link warning:

"...ERIC S. RAYMOND has a long post about gay priests and the Catholic sex scandals, to which Tim Wilson has posted a lengthy response.

UPDATE: Tony Adragna says that lots of priests are taking advantage of adult women, and minor girls, but that people aren't talking about it.

posted at 09:21 PM by Glenn Reynolds."

Reynolds in his idiocy again links to a site that quotes Richard Sipe: "sexual abuse of minors is only part of the problem [in the Catholic Church]. Four times as many priests involve themselves sexually with adult women, and twice the number of priests involve themselves with adult men."

Richard Sipe is an ex-priest who is the champion of sorts among the "married priest" advocates. His books that attack the Church's stance on celibacy are the bibles of the group.

His other comments include:

"..Generally, 30 percent of U.S. priests (estimates established from all sources) are either involved in homosexual relationships, have a conflict about periodic sexual activity, feel compelled toward homosexual involvements, identify themselves a homosexual, or at least have serious questions about their sexual orientation or differentiation. Approximately half of these men act out sexually with others. The reporting of homosexual behaviors has increased significantly, and the reliable estimates of percentage almost doubled from 1960 to 1994."

and

"...Many Eastern Rite churches have maintained the tradition of a married clergy. The late patriarch Cardinal Maximos Saigh had no scandals, no pedophilia, no sexual abuse, no adultery, and few divorces. He wrote to the Vatican, "With the freedom of choice (celibacy or marriage) we have to deplore less faults and admire more virtues."

Both statements made by Sipes are false.

Reynolds focuses only on the Catholic Church, but what the link does do is show how Sipe's agenda falls apart.

"...Almost 42 percent of respondents in a 1990 study on sexual harassment in The United Methodist Church reported unwanted sexual behavior by a colleague or pastor; 17 percent of laywomen said that their own pastor had harassed them. In 1997, jurors awarded more than $3.7 million to seven of eight women who accused former United Methodist pastor Barry Bailey of sexual misconduct. Mr. Bailey was pastor of the 10,500-member First United Methodist Church in Fort Worth, Texas, until he was forced out in 1994. In another case, the Rev. Jeffrey Stallworth, pastor of Anderson UMC in Jackson, Miss., pleaded guilty earlier this month to sexually assaulting a Maryland woman. He faces up to a year in prison."

Because of Sipe's agenda on the celibacy laws in the Church, Sipe's words and data are questionable. And Reynolds needs to bone up on his links. As a teacher of the law, he does a piss poor job at getting to the facts.

Israel´s Separation Wall

Israel is at a loss about how to stop Palestinian suicide attacks. Operation Protective Shield, the full-blown invasion of the Palestinian territories with tanks and troops last April, was supposed to destroy what Israel calls the Palestinian "terrorist infrastructure". Certainly for a while, the invasion significantly reduced the number of suicide bomb attacks. But the past few weeks have seen a new surge of bombings and an even greater number of attacks has been prevented at the last moment.

With all of the ADL talk about the rise in anti-Semitism in America, here is article that points to the ADL's real target, blacks.

And here is a pretty good explanation on the evolution of the term anti-Semetism.

The ADL sounds like Reynolds ADL Calls on European Central Bank President to Publicly Condemn Wife's Anti-Semitic and Jewish Conspiracy Statements

The ADL pushes for hate crime legislation.

"We cannot be complacent in the fight against hate," said Mr. Foxman. "After the 9/11 attacks, Arab and Muslim Americans were unfairly singled out for harassment, threats and intimidation. Now we find that anti-Semitism is rising. Our leaders in the Senate must reinforce the message that acts of bigotry and hate are unacceptable in America."

There is always a reason for a poll.

The ADL publishes a poll that said there is an increase in anti-Semitism among Americans.

Well that is bullshit. Oops, that must be an anti-Semitic statement. But then again they make no mention of the increase in anti-Muslim feelings in the U.S.

Republicans Love To Lose!

Want the latests?

FIRST STRIKE: After five days of "positive" ads, Gov. Gray Davis unleashed the first in what will likely be a series of attack ads on Republican opponent Bill Simon -- and with good reason.

There's a new poll floating around Sacramento that shows the embattled Davis trailing Simon by a whopping eight points.

The poll -- which was of likely voters and paid for by the Democratic- friendly Service Employees International Union -- found newcomer Simon at 42 percent to Davis' 34 percent.

Green Party candidate Peter Camejo came in with 5 percent.

But, as with other recent statewide polls, the real news is on Davis' job performance numbers.

They are in the toilet.

Only 34 percent of those surveyed gave Davis a thumbs-up -- and 64 percent turned thumbs down.

"Now these are voters who are very, very likely to vote in November," our source told us. "You can see that Gray doesn't have a lot of choices at this point other than to start making a case against Simon."

In response, one of the contributors to this site nails it

What is this: How Europe is trying to cut out smoking

The percentage of 15-year-olds who smoke tobacco at least once a week is alarming: 33 percent in Austria, 28 percent in Belgium's Flemish-speaking region, 24 percent in Denmark, 29 percent in France, 29.5 percent in some regions of France, 30.5 percent in Germany, 18.5 percent in Greece, 25 percent in Ireland, 16.5 percent in Portugal and 21 percent in Sweden.

More on the Lebanese election. Opposition warns state not to steal race from Murr

President Emile Lahoud's government supported a pro-Syrian candidate. Gabriel Murr, was supported by the right-wing Christian groups.

Emile Lahoud considers himself to be a Christian. Interestingly, the article states:

The ministry was prepared to declare Myrna Murr the winner of the vote after her uncle, Gabriel Murr, was unofficially announced the victor late Sunday night. But Myrna Murr’s victory rests on a controversial decision to discount the results from a polling station in the village of Hemlaya.

Not counting the Hemlaya results, Myrna Murr obtained 34,760 votes, just 15 more than Gabriel Murr.

However, if the Hemlaya votes are included, Gabriel Murr wins by a razor-thin three votes.

The loss by Mirna Murr is a blow to the Beirut government and Syria. Just recently, Syrian troops pulled out of the Metn region.

Of course this has been repeatedly stated on this site. Here and here and here.

Andrew Sullivan gets it when he states:

"...WHAT U-TURN? I know I'll be excoriated as a Bush toady for saying this, but I don't actually get the notion that the Bush administration has done a palpable U-turn on global warming. Check out this story. "Last year, the White House described climate change as a serious issue after seeking opinions of the National Academy of Sciences but was undecided about how much of the problem should be blamed on human activities," the Associated Press reports. This year, in a report to the U.N. no less, the administration argues that "The changes observed over the last several decades are likely mostly due to human activities, but we cannot rule out that some significant part of these changes is also a reflection of natural variability." Wow. What a change. And no one is claiming that the Bush administration has shifted actual policy. It's also a grotesque distortion to say that most conservatives completely rebut the notion of some human effect on global warming. Certainly Bjorn Lomborg acknowledges it. My own view of this weird little summer story is that it's a major Howell Raines coup. A reporter finds some tiny and insignificant change in the wording of administration policy, and Raines puts it on his front page. Drudge takes the bait and Rush follows. Chill, guys. It seems to me that the Bush administration has long held the sensible skeptical position (which does not preclude taking human impact on global warming seriously). The difference between them and Al Gore is that they don't take this as a certainty or buy the notion you have to throw the economy into reverse to prevent it."

Well miracles do happen. Sullivan gets it right.

Rod Dreher is globe-trotting in Holland.

Hope to hell, he didn't go all the way there to find out that: "...The folks I've met are tremendously impressive, and are taking on this liberal paradise like mission territory. Interestingly, most of them didn't care for Pim Fortuyn, who was a radical libertarian, but they absolutely cheer him for standing up to political correctness."

This being said about the conservatives. Hell that's what was being said on this site long before some of the crew at the corner had their light turned on.

The headlines may read Western evacuations to 'pressure' India, Pakistan but the threat of an escalation between Pakistan and India is real.

For those foreigners in Pakistan, the threat of harm actually comes from the Pakistanis and others in country. In India, the threat is of a war.

The "bugging out" will likely continue. As for nukes, out of the question. The deterrence will work.

Other stories have been raised on the issue.

Even the Toronto Star had reports here.

This may be one of those unsolved mysteries, that has some truth and some lies. Unfortunately, the story gets involved with less than reputable sources.

And as for the Nation, they still haven't found a reason for Vreeland being on the Navy's switch board directory. It gets to be an embarrassing thing in court when you lie about it and are called on it before a judge.

Let's see. Andrew Sullivan first has a real-war dream that calms his nerves. Now this.

"...PRE-EMPTION: This is the new doctrine for American foreign policy. It needs to be. No responsible American administration can simply sit and wait until a rogue terrorist or terrorist state prepares to use weapons of mass destruction, or just weapons of destruction against citizens of the United States. Perhaps president Bush realizes that many of us need reassurance that he hasn't gone soft or lost focus. Or perhaps it's part of a concerted campaign to prepare the public for war. Whatever, it's a highly impressive speech - yet another one. Still, and I never thought I'd say this about a Bush administration, eloquence is one thing. What we need to see now is action - reform of the agencies that have been too passive in the past, and preparation for taking out the biggest single threat to our security, Saddam."

Doesn't sound like he is all that calm. A little paranoia has never hurt this guy. The greatest security threat to the U.S. is Saddam?
